So... i need a name change.When i started this whole blogging caper i was very nonchalant, just a bit of fun. But things have gotten a little more business like and i hope in the future, when i have a baby and have lots of spare time (i know... mothers you can chuckle at me now!) I will start a proper businessat home. So i need a name that i can register a business name and get a web address etc...
What Katy Did is already taken and registered in Australia, as far as i can tell it isn't being used, there is a lingerie shop called What Katie Did who owns What Katy Did Blogspot. Anyways - i think it is time to have one that is new and free.
So here are my thoughts and i really need your opinion!! I have two that are standing out in my mind (if you steal them i will hunt your down and pull out all your hairs with a pair of tweezers). Here they are and the reason behind them:-
Katy Creates...
Nice and simple - descriptive and can cover anything i do, jewellery - handbags - decals. Would look good on a label. Also it pretty much somes up me... If someone asked my husband what i do, he would say "Well, Katy creates". That is what i am constantly doing.
Wagtail Design
My favourite bird is a willy wagtail - when i see them, i know i am going to have a good day. When they wiggle their little bum around it always makes me smile.... thats it!
So even after writing that i think i know which one, but i would love your opinion... and i will need your support too when i jump to a different blog name, but at the moment, just your opinion would be wonderful!

UPDATE - just found a company registered called Wagtail Designs - FOR CHRIST SAKES!!! Back to the drawing board :-( i really liked that one :-( now i have the strops... feedback still appreciated though...

I like Wagtail Designs. It is something that sticks in your head and is vague enough to apply to anything you create. I also think it sounds a little more professional.
I like Wagtail Design! You already have the wagtail motif that you use alot, plus there's a story with feelings behind the name - I also think it's more businessy and perhaps better for international recognition - it's an aussie bird (like you!)...
I vote for Wagtail Designs as well. I think that it is a little more recognizable and also different enough to remember.
Wagtail designs sounds more professional but Katy Creates is more friendly, depends on the feel you are going for I suppose
Wagtail designs - I like it! It has lots of potential to grow, it's creative & sounds positive too.
I'm already using the name willy-wagtail as my blog name and have been for a year and a half. I don't mind you having a similar name but it might cause confusion. One problem I've noticed is that the local madams are called wagtails and apparently, from comments I received when I first started, that some crude people thought that way. Having said that, my son's advice was to go with what I thought not with the way others thought and I think that is good advice. Cherrie

What about Bee Girl...? Or would you find that to limiting? Maybe B-Girl... it plays with being a Brissie girl too?
If they're both gone, how about something like 'KATY MAKES' - I was told once that to have 3 words is good and memorable (hence my Shiny Happy Art), and I also wanted to separate my own entity as an artist from my business - for when it grows so big that I am happy to sell it. Dick Smith regrets starting his business with his own name, and Mitch Dowd also sold his and reverted to his mother's maiden name... anyway, do you have something other than a wagtail that you have a story about?
Oh, pity about wagtail designs i love that one! Wagtails are so cute. Katie creates is great too.
Oh no - and I too was going to suggest Wagtail designs... though the name "Wagtails unite" that le@thirdontheright came up with also appeals :)

I chose mine because it's the nickname that my dad has used for me all my life, and now it sort of just stuck! He still calls me Sunday nights and says "Hello CurlyPops".
Oh well, hard decision isn't it! I used my own name as it saved a few various registration issues. It's also nice to say, yes this is me, this is what I make. I saw Mitch Dowd on the ABC the other night about his name change etc., but I do know a lot of people who use their own names for their businesses and are very happy. What are you leaning more towards??
