Meet My Hemmer Feet
The instructions say to fold over your material twice, not to wide and place the hemmer foot on the top and stitch for a few stitches. With the needle in the fabric raise the foot and curl the folded fabric into the slot, lower the foot and start stitching.
It is a good idea to keep the fabric taut and slightly raise the folded fabric as you sew.
look at that beautiful hemmer out the back! There is no way in the world i could do that with out this foot. Where have you been all my life! (sitting in the drawer at the back of my sewing machine, that's where, can't believe i haven't tried this before)
Here is my hem, pressed and next to the picture in the book. Beautiful! (except for the wonky start). It also has tips on how to do corners. This foot would be perfect for making napkins... mmm... project time!
Now the Shell Hemmer footer, i did not have success with this. The instructions were the same but with different setting, a zig zag instead of a straight stitch.
But i didn't get the over the edge effect in my hem like in the picture. I am going to have another go at this at another date. Any recommendations or helpful tips?
Tomorrow - meet Mr Blind Hemmer Foot!

How sweet that you inherited a machine... I have some funny feet with the Singer that I picked up off the side of the road that I must test out.
