World's Coolest Skirt!!

It's Finished! (except for attaching the panel to the skirt properly) What do you think?
I used the Amy Butler Barcelona A Line Skirt pattern for the black skirt. I then made the top panel using Red Seed Studio Lipstick Palm Print for the front panel with a natural twill backing.

I love it - very happy. I love it how the pattern stands out on the black background of the skirt. It looks good with my new boots too..I really like the black running along the bottom to, like a frame..

My husband came home from Golf and I raced into the bedroom to put it on and give him a fashion parade.
I came out of the bedroom and said "What do you think?"

He said "I thought the panel was going to be in the skirt coz at the moment it looks like a tea towel"

God Damn It!! Bloody Men.... But the most annoying things is it actually it is a good idea for my next one, to have the panel contained in the skirt rather than over the top.

Things I could improve for the next one - a cleaner edge to my over flap. I don't like how the corners are a bit wonky they are sewn straight but when I turned the panel out I might not have pressed it quite right. I might take the hem up a bit so there is not so much black along the bottom and a big of leg showing over my boots.

Anyway - I am still learning and I think it looks COOL.
So I have come to you ladies, who have taste and know what you are on about, for your opinion?

I think it's very cool, and NO it definitely does not look like a tea towel.
Love it with the boots... it would also look cool with stripey tights because you would only see a hint between the skirt and the boots.

Wow! That is very cool! I love the line of the skirt (looks super gorgeous with your new boots too!) and the panel at the front looks fab as well. Thanks for showing this. K

The panel is a brilliant feature! I have seen a few of the Barcelona skirts around lately - very stylish.

Very cool. That skirt is a great cut - very good shape with your boots.

Men know nothing!
Can't wait to see this skirt in real.
Do you have a flickr account, I'd love to add that picture to our Red Seed group.

Looks like my backyard, with that fence and the Chinese elms in the background.

I'm pretty sure that the opinions of most men do not count when it comes to sewing. There are some that "get it", but most just do not. I love your skirt and most importantly, you seem to love it as well.

Very cool! My husband has a similar way about him. I no longer ask what he thinks of what I make. I TELL him what he things. And hope he behaves.

Gorgeous Katy! Quite Dogstar-esque even! That Barcelona pattern is a gem too - it is a great A-line skirt pattern - wear it to Brown Owls!

I'm just catching up on your posts.

I LOVE this skirt and I love that it's a flap over the top and not sewn in (I have a few skirts like that myself), it certainly doesn't look like a teatowel, but very funky. Hah, men, what do they know?
