I offered to create a little dress for a little girl called Neve, who likes to dance to 80's music with her mum and dress up like Belle, from Beauty and Beast.
She is going to Disney on Ice in less that 2 weeks and i started cutting out the pieces - current count is 18!! GEZZZZ!!! And i haven't even cut out the Taffetta yet, they didn't have any at Lincraft, and they call themselves a fabric shop.. wtf?
This is the flouncy collar and lining of the bodice. I am using pattern B4320 by Butterick this is were i am at... lining, overskirt, and little gathered thingy for over the shoulders....The overskirt below will be gathered up in sections with the canary yellow taffeta showing through the bottom.
I want it to look like this in the end, but not plasticky.
I also have some vintage pattern goodness, care of ebay - Simplicity 5562 from 1973. The paper used for the pattern pieces is better quality than the type used today and the printing on it nice and big - must be before they became cheapskates and started using thinner tissue paper.. Some pouches made with Ink and Spindle Fabric. A finished Mod Podged box with a little pouch for a friend in Melbourne. Annd lastly, some hand screenprinted panels, this is step one in a 2 colour design.
Tomorrow will be the flowers. I used the vinyl cutter at work to cut my design out of removable vinyl and stuck it on the back on my screen. The result is a very precisely cut stencil that creates nice clean esges. You can only use it until you rinse your screen though so i got 3 prints out, only one PERFECT one though.. so if after i put the flowers on the perfect one is still perfect - i might se if i can sell it. It would be perfect for the flap of a messenger bag or stretched over a frame...
Hop over to Kootoyoo, the lovely lady that hosts My Creative Space each week for some more Creative Goodness.
Also.. yes i am posting this at 4:50am in the morning.. i cant sleep!
Also also... Transformers 2 kicks arse!! Go see it!!

You are too funny Katy. The dress is coming along - shame you had to recut the pieces so many times. The print looks good too and would look great on a bag. Next project perhaps? Hope to see you soon.
You do have a lot going on, don't you! Zippered pouches are in my creative space this week too.
so much goodness! That is so sweet of you to make the dress. I love your Ink and Spindle fabrics and your screen looks great!
wow you have been so busy the dress is amazing
Thanks Lynne, i didn't have to actually recut the pieces, there were actually 18 i had to cut out! and i havn't done the top layer yet either - such a small dress but so many pieces! Insane hey! I am hoping to use one of my screen prints for a bag flap... maybe in next weeks Creative Space :-)
We will definitely have to catch up again soon, unfortunately can't make it this Friday but maybe one day we could have a screen printing day!
wow, so much creativity in your space today. the dress will be very special
Thanks Linda - we will just have to see how it turns out in the end - and if i have a happy customer !
Up to your eyeballs in Disney cheesiness!!
I love the new look blog btw. (I hope it IS new and I'm not just revealing my ignorance or forgetfulness... I don't think so.)
Ha! it is new, i didn't say anything on my blog about it coz i thought it would be interesting if or when people notice, as it shows how many people read your blog through a blog reader! So, thankyou!
Vinyl cutter...excellent!
I wish I achieved even half as much as you do, Katy! These are all fabulous! You might want to check out Oxlades in the Valley for aqueous paper - you can use it again and again - seems a shame to have to discard all that beautiful work :) K
P.S. Is this a new comments thingy for you, katy??? I love it - so much easier to use. :) K
Yes it is a new commenty thing! Hopefully it is working properly and i can reply back to yours... I should try the aqueous paper - it seems like a really good idea but i can't cut it with the vinyl cutter at work so i would have to and cut it by hand and sometimes my hands don't do what my head is thinking!
wow, you are super busy - it all looks really wonderful. I like the variety happening :-) Love to see the dress when it's finished. My 2 year old is loving dress ups at the moment, but I'm not going there, yet...
It's all action at your place! I am agog!!
Wow such an array of projects. That is truly impressive. I'm loving the little fabric pouches, so pretty.
you have been keeping busy...I'm loving the look of the last project especially.
Wow! That is so clean for a hand cut stencil! I'm going to have to visit again to see the end result.
I love your fabric. Your projects look amazing. Good luck with it all!
The vinyl cut-outs would be perfect for cmaking a film positive though, if you wanted to print the same design several times.
Wow your creative space is quite busy!!Love the Ink and spindle fabric;)
Good luck with the dress! It looks very complicated, but I am sure it is going to be loved. :)
Your print looks amazing. Can't wait to see the finished version.
Wow, so much going on in your space. Neve is going to look adorable in that dress and love you forever! :-)
