My Creative Space -Dragonflys and Eel Skin

This morning i got up early and had a few crafty hours before work. Crazy woman.

I am embroidering around a screen print i did at my screen printing workshop. The print was only on calico but I am going to get lots of different blue and teal colours buttons to fill in the wings and then sew a purse with it, very interested to see how it will turn out!

I am also finishing a bookmark i have made for RY. The story is that RY had a friend that passed away that had given her a wallet just before she died,sRY used this wallet for sooo long, until it was falling apart because it made her sad to have to give it up, so i told her i would make something out of the leather for her so she could keep it forever. When i was taking apart the wallet i found a tag that read "Eel Leather" eeecckk! The leather is so soft and smooth.

What a coincidence--I blogged about embroidering on printing today... I think the universe is telling me I need to tackle a new craft combo! I read about your screenprinting class and now I'm DYING to take one too. I will start thinking of a design immediately in preparation. Except I really can't draw! Love your stuff!

I think the embroidery around the screen print looks great. It really makes it "pop".

The bookmark is a lovely idea! And don't dragonflies make the most beautiful silhouette.

Those two blues together are so lovely. I am a bit scared of the eel skin though having an eel phobia. That would be good immersion therapy though!

I love the combination of embroidery and printing - I've been meaning to try something similar for awhile (so many ideas, so little time!)

I love the sound of what you're going to do with the teal buttons. Make sure you put it in your creative space when you do it!

Not crazy, creating before work - just obsessed and obsessed is good!!! The embroidery is looking lovely and it's interesting to see the bookmark coming along. So lovely to be re-making the wallet into something else - oh and just forget you ever saw the tag saying eel leather!

Hi Katy. I love the screen print and the plan you have for it. Please remember to show us when it's done. Lovely story about the wallet too - you are a very good friend to do that, eel leather and all!

I can't wait to see the dragonfly purse. I love the idea of reworking the wallet especially given that it has sentimental value. I still have my eel skin clutch from the eighties. I was probably the only highschool student in my school who had the 'it' bag of the time so I guess it has sentimental value because I kept it but I am not sure what to do with it now.
